[UNDER CONSTRUCTION] How do I record the information on ...
In Geovistory, data is stored using well defined classes. This list intends to give an easily accessible overview which class can be used for which information.
Which classes to use for:
Where-abouts & nationality
Origine (geographical)
If you want to record information about the geographical origines of a person, you can connect the class "geograpical place" with any person through "has origine in".
Important: This relates to the geographical origine of a person and not its "nationality".
Belongs to (legal body)
Before nation states emerged, persons living in a certain area (e.g. the city of Vienna) often also belonged to a certain regionally rooted "group" of people (for example the group of "citizens of a town"), which characterizes their where-abouts.
If you want to record information about the affiliation of a person to a certain regionally rooted group, use the class "legal body" (e.g. "the Citizens of Vienna") and connect it with the person via a membership.
Nationality (class legal quality)
With the emergence of the nation states, also the concept of "nationality" was introduced, characterizing the legal status of persons with respect to any given nation state. Often, there exist other legal status for people that have not yet the "full" nationality, but a certain level of recognition. Allowing them for example to carry out business (e.g. "alien/foreigner" recognition) or to enjoy refugee protection (e.g. "refugee recognition").
Family-ties
Parents-Children
Parents and their children are interconnected via the class "union" (e.g. marriage) and "birth". Read more here.
Siblings
In order to link siblings, it is easiest to connect them via the "union" (e.g. marriage) of their parents.

Occupation & Jobs
Occupations & Activities
If you want to record information on activities and occupations (for example jobs) of individuals, use the class "occupation", which is described here [missing link]. In short, this class is used to describe "activities" that a person has carried out at a given moment in time and at a given place. For example, a surgeon performing an eye surgery at the University Hospital of Geneva on the third of January 1912.
